Rhys son of Rhodri or Rhys ap Rhodri was an interesting character. He had no desire to be a warrior because he was better at diplomacy. When his wild twin brothers are sentenced to hang by a Norman lord he offers himself as a husband to the Norman lord's daughter in the hopes of bringing peace.Annalise is dismayed to learn she is nothing more than a way to free two warriors. Rhys is also Welsh. She had hoped to fall in love with a Norman but she wound up with Rhys.
Neither expect to fall in love but they do.
I enjoyed this story more than I did the novella of Rhys' father Rhodri. I did feel, though, that some of it, especially the end, was rushed.

A great book to read with a great ending that goes with the other books in this series.
Now on to book 3! I am sure will be as good as the 1st two have been. Enjoy this author a lot.
I love this series. I have read them all. You fall in love with the characters and the families. I love books that have drama and adventure, but not too much that the obstacles become tedious. These books have character to love and root for, the family is one you will want to know more about. I was sad when I came to the end of the series.
Awesome book
Dark and Bright is a wonderful story of sacrifices, adventure, duty, and romance. It's a very well written historical book that will keep you glued to it into the early morning. The characters come alive within the pages and pull at your heart strings. This story is full of surprises, twist and turns.It's a must read.
I picked up the kindle version of this book when it ws offered for free. I flew through it with a smile on my face. The focus is on the characters and the setting. I love the romance as well as the description of how life could have been during this time in Wales. The movie Braveheart kept popping into my mind, only because it's the closest thing I've seen for comparison. I immediately purchased the kindle version of the next book.
This one is short and quick, almost a little too quick. The premise was great, well thought out and well researched as I have come to expect from a Markland book. Rhys, a Welsh prince, must come up with a diplomatic way to rescue his two younger brothers from the noose. What he comes up with to save his brothers' necks, calm the Norman lord who wants them dead, and insure his continued reputation as a peacemaker, is to propose marriage to a woman he's never even seen. And just when I thought this tale might be heading into the land of romance novel predictability, the plot twists into a direction I didn't see coming.
